Lost and Found – Artist Spotlight: Samir Nahas

Samir Nahas, 2021, Va-et-vient, acrylic paint and pencil mounted on wood

In his works, Samir Nahas creates a conceptual and material archive of notions, images and objects that he comes across in his city wanderings. By enclosing them in ‘containers’ of different matter he encapsulates his chance finds as precious samples that combined lead to free associations, allusions and cross-references. In the pandemic this practice obtains a new significance, as it denotes the notion of ‘being trapped’ and the flow of time in slow motion, paying attention to the inspiration for creation gained on the city streets.
