Lost and Found -Artist Spotlight: Ulrike Dornis

Ulrike Dornis, Trudi and Helene rehearse for deluge afterjan breughel,
blue pastel chalk on drawing cardboard, 160 x 150 cm

In her large recreations of classical paintings by Artemisia Gentileschi or Elisabetta Sirani with real models, Ulrike Dornis records simultaneously sequences of movements as if motion is frozen in different time shots, alluding to the start-and-halt of time during corona. New ways of re-directing her artistic practice include the use of paper and only one color, the re-appreciation of drawing which she previously did not particularly like and the handling of the line in a manner that balances the black and white effect.
